God is truly for you not against you! As much as I have great hopes and dreams for my husband, children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. They are of no comparison to what God wants for each of them as his children.
Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” NKJV
Romans 8:31- 32 NKJV says, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
Therefore it is not that God is holding back from us, it is that we must learn to do things according to His protocol.
God’s word is full of promises to His children but if you will pay very close attention. There is also a condition many times that we must meet in order to receive that promise.
Let me give you some examples from the word.
Hebrews 6:10-15 10. For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints and do minister. 11. And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end. 12. that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13. For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, “He swore by Himself., 14. saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” 15. “And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”
Did you get that? After Abraham had patiently endured, Abraham obtained what God had promised.
In other words there was a condition to obtaining that promise it was TRUST!!! He had to BELIEVE and TRUST by FAITH that what God had promised He would do even when it didn’t look like it.
God was teaching Abraham and Sarah patience and endurance (long-suffering).
Remember these they are fruits of the spirit. God was testing their hearts to see if they really believed what He had said and if they would trust Him no matter how long it took.
That they would anchor their souls steadfast and sure in that hope that it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to lie. For reference please read Hebrews 6:18 and Numbers 23:19.
The very moment that God gave Abraham the word of promise that WORD became the test for him and so it is for each of us.
James 1:2 – 4 puts it this way 2, My brethren count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations 3. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Jeremiah 17: 10 says, I the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, And according to the fruit of his doings.
Joseph was another man known to great testing by God. You can read the entire story in Genesis 37-45.
But in Psalms 105: 16 – 19 paraphrased God had called for a famine in the land in Genesis 37- 45 and he destroyed all the provision of bread. But God had sent a man named Joseph ahead – who had been sold into slavery by his brothers who hated him and were jealous of him.
It says they hurt his feet with fetters and he was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass. The word of the Lord tested him.
So as a child of God I have come to the understanding that sometimes we can pray, we can bind and we can decree and declare.
We can and should do all these things but it is all according to God’s timetable that the answers will come.
That certainly does not mean we should stop praying, seeking and asking. It simply means we must trust that God has heard and that he is working it all out in his time, however long it may take. Ours is to trust him with all our hearts and lean not to our own understanding.
May you be strengthened in your inner man as you patiently endure the time of testing that you may obtain your promises from God.
